Jacqui Cadman Judges at Carey Law Mock Suppression Hearings – Technologist

Brown, Goldstein & Levy partner Jacqui Cadman was honored to bring her talents to the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law’s Criminal Defense Clinic’s mock suppression hearings on March 12, where she served as a judge. A seasoned trial attorney, Jacqui has earned a reputation of being one of the District of Columbia’s leading criminal trial lawyers and was called upon to help the Clinic’s aspiring criminal defense attorneys hone their craft.

Students in UMD Carey Law’s Criminal Defense Clinic represent indigent clients who are charged with crimes in Baltimore City. They are taught how to zealously represent their clients through every phase of a trial, including at evidentiary hearings.  As a respected attorney known for her command of the courtroom, Jacqui was selected to preside over the students’ end of year, mock suppression hearings. She ruled on objections, decided legal issues, and provided valuable feedback to the students that they could take with them throughout their legal careers.

Each year, faculty and students in the UMD Clinical Law Program team up to provide nearly 75,000 hours of free legal services to the community. In 2023, UMD Carey Law celebrated the Clinical Law Program’s 50th anniversary. Carey Law is also home to a widely recognized National Trial Team, which is ranked in the top 40 trial advocacy programs nationwide.
