Citi Strata Premier Card Review 2024 – Forbes Advisor – Technologist
Citi Strata Premier℠ Card vs. Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is a favorite among travel enthusiasts. It earns 5 points per dollar on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠, 3 points per dollar on dining, select streaming services, and online grocery purchases (excluding Walmart, Target and wholesale clubs), 2 points per dollar on all other travel purchases and 1 point per dollar on other purchases. The Sapphire Preferred card also earns 5 points per dollar on Lyft rides and Peloton purchases totaling more than $150 through March 31, 2025.
The Sapphire Preferred comes with a $50 annual credit toward a hotel booked through Chase Travel, which helps to offset its $95 annual fee. Although that’s lower than the $100 hotel credit offered by the Strata Premier, it’s much easier to use as it applies to any hotel booking made in the Chase Travel portal. The Sapphire Preferred also offers cardholders a generous welcome bonus and a complimentary 12-month DoorDash DashPass subscription (must activate by Dec. 31, 2024).
Cardholders receive comparable travel and purchase protections and no foreign transaction fees.
Citi Strata Premier℠ Card vs. Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card earns 5 miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, 5 miles per dollar spent on Capital One Entertainment purchases through 12/31/25 and an unlimited 2 miles per dollar spent on other purchases.
For a $95 annual fee (rates & fees), you’ll get up to a $100 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck®, Hertz Five Star elite status (benefit expires December 31, 2024), a $50 experience credit at Lifestyle Collection hotels and access to nearly 20 Capital One transfer partners.
The Capital One Venture doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees and offers MasterRental Insurance for car rentals.
It’s a fit for consumers who prefer earning a flat rate on all purchases instead of keeping track of spending categories.
Citi Strata Premier℠ Card vs. Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card
The Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card is another card with a $95 annual fee. It earns a whopping 5 points per dollar on hotels, 4 points per dollar on airlines, 3 points per dollar on other travel and restaurants and 1 point per dollar on other purchases.
It also issues a $50 annual statement credit with a $50 minimum airline purchase, effectively dropping the annual fee for those who use the credit. The card offers secondary auto rental collision damage waiver and charges no foreign transaction fees.
The only downside of the Autograph Journey card is the limited number of transfer partners—only about six loyalty programs participate at the moment, though more are expected soon.
