Brown, Goldstein & Levy is honored to have been awarded the Preeminent Partner Award by Maryland Legal Aid’s Equal Justice Council. The award recognizes BGL’s commitment to supporting the organization at the Champion of Justice level for at least ten consecutive years. Champions of Justice contribute $300 or more per attorney who is practicing in the firm.
Managing Partner Sharon Krevor-Weisbaum, partner Andy Freeman, and attorney Monique Gillum accepted the award on behalf of the firm at the 25th Annual Equal Justice Awards Breakfast, hosted on May 21. The event celebrated Maryland Legal Aid Equal Justice Council supporters who are helping to improve access to justice across the state. The event welcomed U.S. Senator Ben Cardin as the keynote speaker.
Sharon is a longtime supporter of Maryland Legal Aid, and Andy has served on MLA’s Equal Justice Council since 2006. Monique is a member of the Equal Justice Associates. The Equal Justice Council primarily consists of attorneys in the private bar who are dedicated to supporting Legal Aid and promoting equal access to justice for Maryland’s economically disadvantaged and vulnerable residents. Members work to increase pro bono involvement, participate in educational programs, and connect with other community organizations to support their clients.
BGL is a fierce advocate for equal access to justice. We are deeply invested in our communities and work hard to improve the lives of residents of Baltimore, the District of Columbia, Maryland, and beyond. We are recognized as Maryland’s leading private law firm for high impact, public interest cases. Our attorneys have handled these challenges in the Supreme Court and most of the federal appellate circuits, as well as in state courts throughout Maryland and around the country.
We are also active in many community organizations and provide pro bono service in connection with board memberships and volunteer work. Our partners and associates have staffed pro bono legal clinics in and around Baltimore, provided pro bono counsel to civil rights organizations, and have served as poll monitors during election season. We are honored to support Maryland Legal Aid by providing legal assistance to low-income Marylanders in crisis and look forward to continuing to do so well into the future.
