Neel Lalchandani Presents on Civil Rights at UC Berkeley Law – Technologist

On February 20, partner Neel Lalchandani spent the day at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law presenting at both a constitutional litigation class and a civil rights practitioner’s panel.

In the morning, Neel spoke with Professor Emily Rong Zhang’s 1L Constitutional Litigation course, which focuses on federal cases and statutes in the constitutional litigation space and the application of law to civil rights practice. Neel presented his work on wrongful conviction, a practice in which he has taken on some of Maryland’s most impactful cases. In recent years, Neel has helped secure several of the largest payments in state history for exonerees and victims of police misconduct. Neel spoke to Professor Zhang’s class about these experiences, as well as his career growth in the civil rights, complex litigation, and wrongful conviction spaces.

Later in the day, Neel joined the Berkeley Law Plaintiffs’ Law Association for a Civil Rights Practitioners Panel, where he expanded on his pathway to representing plaintiffs in complex civil rights and commercial disputes. He was joined by fellow civil rights practitioners Annie Sloan, the Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr., Civil Rights Fellow at Neufeld Scheck Brustin Hoffmann & Freudenberger, and Arthur Bryant, a partner at Bailey Glasser and former chairman of Public Justice.
