Brown, Goldstein & Levy partner Neel Lalchandani participated in a Federal Bar Association – Maryland Chapter panel discussion about Local Rules and Standing Orders alongside Lauren McLarney of Rosenberg Martin Greenberg and the Honorable Julie Rubin of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. The panel, hosted at the federal courthouse in Baltimore, was part of an afternoon-long event for attorneys who practice, intend to practice, or would like to be admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Neel currently serves as member of the Chapter’s Board of Directors.
In addition to Neel’s panel, the day featured other presentations by attorneys and judges that covered lawyer resources, discovery and discovery disputes, mediation, motions practice, and more. Attendees also heard remarks and tips from the Clerk’s Office of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, as well a presentation by Catherine “Katie” Curran O’Malley. Ms. O’Malley, who is the executive director of the Women’s Law Center of Maryland, presented on opportunities to provide assistance to victims of domestic violence. Following the practice program, U.S. District Court admittees participated in an admissions ceremony, followed by a reception.
With significant complex litigation experience in federal court, Neel’s insight was a valuable addition to the Maryland Chapter of the FBA’s program. Neel is well-versed in cases involving employment discrimination and retaliation, unpaid wages, wrongful convictions and police misconduct, reasonable accommodations and disability discrimination, fair housing, and the Randolph-Sheppard Act. Neel has also successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in commercial matters involving breach of contract, business torts, and trade secrets.
